ST commission directs Sukhu govt to resolve FRA cases at earliest
Shimla, June 11 -- The chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST), Antar Singh, directed the state government on Wednesday to expedite the resolution of cases under the Forest Rights Act (FRA).
The chairperson said that cases under FRA should be expedited in tribal areas so that eligible individuals could promptly receive the benefits entitled to them under the Act.
The chairman and members of the NCST, currently on a two-day visit to Shimla, held a review meeting on Wednesday with senior officials from various state government departments to discuss challenges in tribal areas and their solutions.
Presiding over the meeting, Singh stated that despite difficult geographical conditions, Himachal was performing well in the sphere of tribal development
After a detailed review, he issued necessary directives aimed at providing even better facilities to the people in tribal areas. He expressed happiness regarding the absence of Sickle Cell Anemia cases in Himachal's tribal areas.
Singh assured the representatives that necessary steps would be taken to address the raised issues and suggestions, ensuring maximum benefit for the people of the tribal areas.
