Punjab minister Arora held in fresh PMLA case
Chandigarh, May 10 -- The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday arrested Punjab industries minister Sanjeev Arora from his official residence in Chandigarh, soon after it carried out fresh raids against him and associates allegedly linked to him as part of a fresh money laundering probe,
The arrest of 60-year-old businessman-turned-politician Arora, first sitting minister of the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government to be taken into custody by the ED, followed an early morning searches at five locations, including Arora's residence and the corporate offices of Hampton Sky Realty Limited which is run by Arora's family (his son Kavya is the managing director while wife Sandhya is a director according to the company website) and business associates. The development is seen as come a major blow to the AAP that is reeling under defections as seven of its Rajya Sabha member, including six from Punjab, switched to the BJP.
The arrest prompted a fierce counterattack from the AAP.
