Jammu, Sept. 2 -- Activists of the Rashtriya Bajrang Dal staged a protest in Jammu on Tuesday against the alleged demolition of a 125-year-old Hindu temple at Siraj village in Pakistan's Punjab province, 130km from Lahore. Led by J&K unit president Rakesh Bajrangi, the protesters raised slogans against Pakistan and burnt its flag. According to the organisation, the shrine occupied nearly 1,000 square feet adjacent to a madrasa. The protesters alleged local authorities demolished the structure to usurp the land and expand the madrasa. Protesters also burnt effigies of Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and terrorist Hafiz Saeed. Addressing the gathering, Bajrangi said that attacks on Hindu temples and the persecution of minorities continue unchecked in Pakistan, creating an atmosphere of fear to erode the community's religious identity. Bajrangi urged the Government of India to intervene diplomatically with Islamabad, demand the reconstruction of the temple, and restore the property to the Hindu community.
