Properties of four drug peddlers worth over Rs.4 crore attached
Srinagar, June 9 -- Immovable properties worth about Rs.4.66 crore belonging to four drug peddlers were attached by authorities in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar district on Monday, police said.
Sangam police station attached properties worth approximately Rs.3 crore belonging to Gulam Ahmad Dar in connection with an FIR under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act. "The attached assets include a residential house, land and commercial shops. Investigation established that the properties were acquired through proceeds of narcotics trafficking.
"In a separate action, Nowhatta police attached a residential property worth approximately Rs.1 crore belonging to Mohd Shafi Sheikh, son of the late Mohd Subhan Sheikh, in connection with an FIR under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act. The property was identified as an illegally acquired asset generated through drug trafficking. The attachments were carried out under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act to prevent concealment, transfer or disposal of properties derived from illicit narcotics trade," the spokesman said.
In another operation, police also attached properties worth over Rs.66 Lakh of two notorious drug peddlers under NDPS Act in Sopore.
Police said that sleuths Sopore Police today attached illegally acquired properties worth over Rs.66 lakh belonging to two notorious drug peddlers under the provisions of Chapter VA of the NDPS Act, 1985.
Police said that the attached properties belong to Zahoor Ahmad Shah of Hanfia Colony, Arampora Sopore, involved in FIR under the NDPS Act and Manzoor Ahmad Baba son of Sanullah Baba of Magraypora Sopore, involved in FIR No. 184/2023 of Police Station Sopore under the NDPS Act.
"The attached properties include a residential house, bathroom block, fenced land measuring 13 marlas at Hanfia Colony, Arampora, and a scooty belonging to Zahoor Ahmad Shah, valued at Rs.40,82,717; and a residential house at Magraypora and land measuring 1 kanal 6 marlas along with plinth and construction material at Hathlangoo belonging to Manzoor Ahmad Baba, valued at Rs.25,73,567," said police....
