Shimla, July 5 -- Former chief minister of Himachal Pradesh and leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur launched a scathing attack on the Congress government saying that the present Himachal government-led by chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has proven to be a "complete failure" regarding development and public amenities, yet it is setting new records in borrowing debt.
He remarked that while in opposition, the Congress misled the public for five years by raising a hue and cry over debt; however, upon coming to power, the very same party has adopted "borrowing as its primary model of governance."
"Today, state's debt burden is nearing Rs.1.20 lakh crore, and every month begins with accumulation of new debt. Despite this, development works have stalled, no new projects are visible, and the public is struggling even for basic amenities. The Sukhu government alone has incurred more debt during its tenure than all previous governments combined," said Thakur in an issued statement.htc...
