Peon working in JMFC held in drug case
Shimla, April 19 -- Shimla police on Saturday arrested a man working as a peon in court of judicial magistrate first class, in Theog, in connection with a drug (chitta) case and a case has been filed against him. Police arrested Hitendra Mehta, alias Rinku, currently working as peon at the JMFC court, Theog. The arrest was made during the probe of forward linkages in arrests made on April 12.
The police on April 12, searched a car near Nangal Devi, leading to the recovery of 8.340 grams of 'chitta' (Heroin) from the possession of one Kuldeep Verma, of Naleha. The accused was arrested and a case was registered against him under NDPS act in Theog police station.
During the interrogation, Kuldeep, alias Ashu, revealed that he had procured the recovered 'chitta' (Heroin) with the specific intent of supplying it to Hitendra. In this regard, the police analysed technical and financial evidence. During the inquiry, WhatsApp conversations between the two individuals regarding purchase and sale of narcotics were discovered. Furthermore, records of payments made by Hitendra to Kuldeep via UPI/online channels also surfaced.
During the year 2026, the Shimla police has registered a total of 100 cases under the NDPS Act and arrested 214 people. Out of these, 38 arrests were made based on backward and forward linkages....
