Peddler's property worth Rs.52 L attached
Jammu, June 5 -- Doda police attached a residential property worth approximately Rs.52 lakh of a woman drug peddler under the provisions Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, said officials on Thursday.
The action has been taken in connection with an FIR registered at Doda police station under sections 8, 21, 22 29 25, 27A, 20 of the NDPS Act. During the investigation, substantial quantities of narcotic substances, cash proceeds and other incriminating material were recovered, indicating the involvement of the accused persons in illicit drug trafficking activities.
A detailed financial investigation revealed that a double-storeyed residential house with basement situated at Sadiqabad in Doda, belonging to Zareena Begum, wife of late Ghulam Ali had allegedly been acquired from proceeds generated through illegal narcotics trade, said a police officer.
The property, assessed at approximately Rs.51.91 lakh, has accordingly been attached under the provisions of the NDPS Act pending further proceedings before the competent authority, he added....
