Mass movement needed to win war against drugs: Jai Ram
Shimla, Aug. 31 -- Raising concern over growing drug menace in Himachal Pradesh, former chief minister and leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, said on Sunday, that the commitment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home minister Amit Shah to combat drug abuse is absolutely clear.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Thakur said that drug abuse is emerging as a major challenge for India and even in a hilly state like Himachal, the drug menace has reached every nook and corner, and tackling it is our top priority.
Thakur said, "Curbing this trend is not solely the government's responsibility but the responsibility of us all. A decisive battle against drugs can only be fought by turning this into a mass movement".
He asserted that if a major challenge like Naxalism could be eliminated through the efforts of the PM and the Union Home minister, then the drug menace would also be eradicated....
