Landslide-hit Jammu-Srinagar NH partially reopened
Jammu, March 27 -- The 250 km long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH 44) was partially reopened for traffic on Thursday after being blocked for a brief period of time after a massive landslide in the stretch between Karole bridge and Chanderkote in Ramban district on Thursday and the stranded vehicles are being cleared.
"Srinagar-Jammu will take another 15-20 minutes to get cleared for two way traffic. While we are regulating stranded traffic in Jammu-Srinagar amid intermittent shooting stones," the officials said.
"One lane has been cleared and restored for traffic at Karol, Chanderkote," officials confirmed, adding that vehicles are being allowed to pass alternately from both sides under regulation.
Earlier during the day, a senior traffic police officer had informed that traffic movement from Jammu towards Ramban, Banihal and Srinagar and vice versa has been suspended....
