Jammu, March 3 -- The Jammu and Kashmir home department, on Monday, ordered a series of transfers and postings in the prisons department with immediate effect. According to government order No. 145-Home of 2026 dated March 2, 2026, issued by the home department, Sheikh Zulfkar Azad, presently posted as superintendent Central Jail Srinagar, has been repatriated to his parent department, J&K police. The order further states that three police officers have been deputed to the J&K prisons department. Ch Iftikhar Ahmed has been posted as superintendent jail, district jail, Poonch; Rayaz Iqbal Tantray as superintendent jail, district jail, Anantnag; and Aejaz Ahmad Malik as superintendent jail, special jail, Pulwama. Meanwhile, Saba Shawl has been transferred and posted as superintendent jail, central jail, Srinagar, while Mushtaq Ahmad Malla has been posted as staff officer to DGP, prisons, J&K.
