Jammu-Srinagar NH to remain shut for 3 nights in Ramban
Jammu, June 12 -- Night traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH) will be suspended for three nights starting June 12, to facilitate repair and resurfacing work at various locations in Ramban district, officials said on Thursday.
An order issued by the Ramban additional district magistrate mandated a temporary night-time closure of a stretch of National Highway-44 at Nachlana during the intervening nights of June 12-13, June 14-15 and June 16-17 from 10 pm to 5 am, to facilitate bitumen relaying works. In view of the upcoming annual Amarnath Yatra, the NHAI proposed undertaking bituminous relaying works at several locations in Ramban district, said a district official.
The 57 day long annual pilgrimage begins July 3. The Ramban district administration directed the NHAI to complete the work within the stipulated time frame and to ensure that adequate safety measures, including installation of caution boards and barricading, are put in place at the work sites....
