Dharamshala, Sept. 8 -- The Himachal Pradesh government is contemplating over granting Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA) to medical officers, said chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu while presiding over a meeting of the health department on Monday. "The state government was committed to offer world class health care services to the patients within the state and numerous steps have been taken in this regard yielding positive outcomes," he said. He said that the state government was prioritising strengthening all the medical colleges of the state and it was filling up all the vacant posts in the health care institutions. Sukhu said the state government was going to spend Rs 800 crore for strengthening cancer care institutions across the state in view of rising cancer cases. He directed the authorities to form an expert committee to recommend about future road map to strengthen the cancer care institutions. He said that the state government was in the process to procure high-end machines and equipment at par with AIIMS, Delhi, for bolstering the diagnostic and patient care facilities.
