Shimla, June 12 -- The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has been entrusted with the operation and maintenance of three more national highway stretches in Himachal. These include the Punjab/Himachal Pradesh Border-Una-Amb-Mubarakpur-Ranital section (NH-503), the Pathankot-Chamba-Bharmour section (NH-154A), and stretch from near Paonta Sahib to the Himachal Pradesh/Punjab border (NH-907). The takeover also includes a 7-kilometre section of NH-907. Previously, these highways were being managed by the Himachal Pradeshpublic works department (HPPWD). At present, NHAI operates the Parwanoo-Shimla, Pinjore-Baddi-Nalagarh, Kiratpur-Manali, Shimla-Mataur, and Pathankot-Mandi highways in the state. The transfer of these national highways to NHAI is expected to significantly improve traffic flow, road safety, and regional connectivity.
