Jammu, March 10 -- Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday arrested a policemen while accepting bribe in Reasi. He was identified as head constable Parvaiz Ahmed Bhati, son of late Mohammad Din of Mandhar village in Haveli tehsi.of Poonch district. A case under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, has been registered against the cop, who was recently posted at police post Talwara in Reasi. "The accused demanded bribe from a complainant for manipulating the course of the investigation by dropping certain sections of law in the case registered against him at Talwara police post," said an official. He was the investigating officer of the case. Complainant approached the ACB. On receipt of the compliant, a discreet verification was conducted, which corroborated the demand of bribe by the public servant. During the course of investigation, a team was formed an a trap was laid and accused public servant was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe amount of Rs.5,000. The accused was arrested on the spot by the ACB team after following due process of law. The bribe money was also recovered from the possession of accused.
