HC takes suo motu cognisance of delay in Pabber bridge construction
Shimla, July 23 -- The Himachal Pradesh high court has taken suo motu cognisance of the alleged inordinate delay in the construction of a bridge over the River Pabber at Seema on the RCD Road under the HPPWD sub-division Chirgaon and division Rohru, and has registered a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the matter.
The division bench comprising chief justice GS Sandhawalia and justice Bipin C Negi passed the order after a representation received on the administrative side highlighted the prolonged delay in the construction of the bridge and other bridges in the surrounding areas.
The representation, submitted by Ajay Dhawan, sought the immediate commencement of construction work on the bridge.
During the hearing, the court issued notice to the State of Himachal Pradesh and directed it to file a status report on the progress of the project.
The case would now come up for hearing on August 31, 2026....
