Shimla, June 17 -- Himachal Pradesh high court on Tuesday has sought details on the steps taken to build the bypass of Gadhkhal while taking into account the pathetic condition of the road stretch between Gadkhal to Kasauli. The division bench of chief justice GS Sandhawalia and justice Bipin C Negi has taken suo moto cognisance of the stretch from Gadkhal to Kasauli becoming a nightmare for tourists and local residents, owing to constant traffic jam, especially during the tourist season and no efforts have been made, as such to address the said issue. The bench was appraised that there was a proposal to bypass the said stretch by building an alternate route. So, high court has now asked the state to demonstrate what steps have been taken to build the bypass of Gadhkhal. The bench also directed, "Secretary, district legal services authority, Solan, to inspect the road from Gadhkal to Kasauli, considering the pathetic condition. The said officer shall also inspect the road from Dharampur to Gadhkal and givehis comments qua the condition of the road, on or before the next date of hearing." The bench had also directed the superintending engineer, HPPWD, Solan Circle, to file an affidavit on or before the next date of hearing, as to when the road was last tarred.
