French envoy calls on Ladakh LG
JAMMU, June 28 -- The French ambassador to India, Thierry Mathou, on Saturday, called on lieutenant governor of Ladakh, VK Saxena and suggested opening of training school for professional mountaineering guides in the region. Saxena relayed the information on X. "Had a meaningful conversation with the French ambassador to India, Thierry Mathou, today in Leh. The discussion centred round the exchange on strengthening cooperation in various tourism sports related activities. Mathou suggested opening a training school for professional mountaineering guides in Ladakh, to promote sustainable tourism in Ladakh's unique ecosystem," he wrote. Saxena said that they also deliberated upon identifying young aspirants who could be trained as professional guides and facilitators in France.
The introduction and teaching of French language in Ladakh's public schools, as a valuable skill, opening new avenues for our youth in educational and cultural exchange, was also discussed, said Saxena....
