Jammu, Sept. 30 -- Police on Tuesday busted a fake currency racket operating from a rented premises in the Chowadhi area under the jurisdiction of Channi Himmat police station here, arresting three people, officials said. Police said they took action after receiving reliable information about suspected counterfeit currency being printed and circulated at the rented premises. A team from Sainik Colony police post raided the premises and apprehended three persons, identified as Vijay Sahani, a resident of Siwan in Bihar, Indrajeet Kumar, a resident of Maharajpur, Sahib Ganj in Jharkhand, and Rahul Ahirwar, a resident of Chattarpur in Madhya Pradesh. "During the search of the premises, police recovered and seized suspected low-quality counterfeit currency notes of Rs.100 denomination, amounting to Rs.13,500, along with a printing machine, paper cutter, ink bottles of different colours, one sharp-edged weapon and other incriminating material," said the officer. An FIR under Sections 178, 180, 181, 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and 4/25 of the Arms Act has been registered at Channi Himmat police station.
