Cloudburst-hit Chishoti to get automatic weather station: Jitendra Singh
Jammu, June 6 -- Union minister Jitendra Singh on Friday said that the cloudburst-hit Chishoti area of Kishtwar en route Padder will soon get an automatic weather station to strengthen weather forecasting and disaster preparedness in the region.
"Following last year's disaster in Chishoti, which continues to be discussed frequently, an automatic weather station and a seismology centre will be established at the site," Singh told media persons here.
It is pertinent to mention that on August 14 last year, around 68 people died and 32 went missing in a massive cloudburst in Chishoti village while devotees were on their way to Mata Machail temple in the Padder area.
Singh informed that the project would be implemented soon because the district administration has already approved the required land to set up the facilities. "In this context, I talked to the Kishtwar deputy commissioner yesterday. He informed me that he had already approved the land, so we can proceed further," said Singh....
