31 Congress leaders join BJP in Rohru
Shimla, June 16 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday inducted 31 Congress leaders and workers from Rohru constituency, claiming influence in the traditional stronghold.
At a grand event held at the BJP state office "Deepkamal" in Chakkar, state general secretary Sanjeev Katwal formally inducted the new members by presenting them with party scarves.
Katwal stated that those joining the BJP include Ritu (BDC member from Lower Koti) and Harry Gesta (deputy pradhan of Mudab panchayat), alongside several Congress organisation office-bearers and active workers. He remarked that this exodus-driven by leaders and workers leaving the party due to the appeal of BJP's policies-is a direct result of the Congress party's anti-people policies and organisational failures.
Addressing the media, Katwal alleged that the government had employed widespread pressure tactics to ensure the victory of Congress-backed candidates in the panchayat and municipal body elections. He stated that even after the elections, the government continues to exert administrative pressure on pradhans, deputy pradhans, councillors, and their families....
