Zeeshan akhtar's aide held for extortion, firing
Jaipur, May 7 -- Rajasthan Police's Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has arrested an associate of Punjab-based gangster Zeeshan Akhtar from Bandikui in Dausa district, in a case linked to extortion and firing incidents in Punjab.
ADG of the AGTF, Dinesh MN, said, "Akhtar was a key accused in the 2024 murder of National Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique, after which he fled abroad. He had been a close associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in 2024, but they parted ways after Siddique's murder. Akhtar's associate Chandra Prakash Sharma, alias Chandu, was arrested in Bandikui on Tuesday night. He had been absconding for three months after opening fire on a Punjab Police team attempting to arrest him."
Police said Chandu worked on Akhtar's orders, extorting money from businessmen and carrying out firing incidents as a shooter.
MN added: "The AGTF acted after receiving information that Chandu, involved in extorting a businessman and firing at his office in Nakodar City, Punjab, was hiding in Rajasthan. Akhtar's gang threatened a Nakodar businessman with extortion. When he refused, gang members fired at his office, Bakshi Travels, on January 18, to intimidate him. Punjab Police had already arrested three other gang members - Deepak, Ankit Kumar, and Harjinder Gupta - in the case."
Ankit Kumar and Harjinder were injured in retaliatory fire from Punjab Police at a checkpost on February 3, when police tried to arrest them.
"Chandu then fled and kept evading capture by changing locations. Interrogation revealed he hid in Jaipur, Parasar Dham in Dausa, Lalsot, and other areas after leaving Punjab," he added.
The AGTF had tracked the accused's activities and locations for a month. Based on technical inputs and intelligence, the team laid a trap and arrested Chandu in Bandikui....
