Jaipur, Aug. 28 -- Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Thursday urged young people to move forward with hard work and determination, assuring them that his government would leave no stone unturned in providing opportunities and facilities to help them excel, particularly in sports. Sharma made the remarks while joining the My Bharat Khelo India Samvad programme virtually in Jaipur on the occasion of National Sports Day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the programme. Calling the youth the country's biggest asset, the chief minister said their patience, confidence and relentless hard work would be crucial to achieving the goal of a developed India. He said the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi had created a positive environment for sports in the country, enabling talent from villages and smaller towns to get opportunities on national and international platforms. Paying tribute to legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, CM Sharma said that National Sports Day was an occasion to remember his exceptional contribution and dedication to sports. Highlighting the state's efforts to promote sports, the chief minister said the government was continuously strengthening sports infrastructure across Rajasthan. As many as 50 Khelo India Centres have been established in the state, while Centres of Excellence for athletics, archery and boxing are being developed at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The state is also establishing the Maharana Pratap Sports University in Jaipur at an estimated cost of around Rs.101 crore, Sharma said. He said the government was working to prepare athletes for international-level competitions by providing better training, modern facilities, financial security and recognition. Sharma said 186 sportspersons who have brought laurels to Rajasthan at national and international levels have been appointed to government services. So far, around Rs.52 crore in incentives and assistance has been provided to 3,540 athletes. Rajasthan also hosted the Khelo India University Games-2025 for the first time. The event was held across seven cities and saw participation from around 7,000 athletes representing 222 universities. In the Khelo India Youth Games-2025, Rajasthan athletes won 60 medals, securing third place among states, Sharma said. The CM said the Rajasthan Youth Policy-2026 has created new opportunities for young people in education, skill development, sports and leadership. Under the One District-One Sport initiative, one sport is being promoted in each district. The state government has also launched the Rajasthan Target Olympic Podium Scheme with the aim of producing Olympic medal winners. The monthly mess allowance for athletes training at departmental academies has also been increased from Rs.2,600 to Rs.4,000, he said. The chief minister congratulated boxer Arundhati Chaudhary, who recently won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games, and Yashveer Singh, who won a bronze medal, saying their performances had brought pride to Rajasthan. Sharma said the state government was taking steps to fulfil the aspirations of young people through successive budgets and had released a calendar for recruitment examinations. He said 410 recruitment examinations have so far been conducted without paper leaks, while more than 189,000 appointments have been made. Recruitment is currently underway for more than 122,000 posts, while preparations are in progress for recruitment to over 70,000 additional posts, he said....
