BIKANER, July 7 -- A 27-year-old woman died during treatment at PBM Hospital in Bikaner on Sunday night, days after her newborn died after a Caesarean delivery, officials said on Monday, taking the toll in a series of recent childbirth-related complications at the hospital to four.
The deceased was identified as Leela from Kuchaur village. Hospital superintendent Dr BC Ghiya said she was admitted to the hospital after going into labour and underwent the Caesarean section on July 3. Officials said the post-mortem examination would follow an examination of her treatment records and other formalities.
The death came amid continuing scrutiny of PBM Hospital's maternity services following a cluster of serious post-Caesarean complications reported over the past several weeks. Six women who underwent Caesarean deliveries at the hospital developed acute kidney complications, with the first case surfacing on May 18.
All six women were shifted to the ICU and underwent multiple dialysis sessions. Officials said two women remain under treatment. Imarti (20) was referred to AIIMS Jodhpur, while Kamla continues to remain on ventilator support....
