Jaipur, Sept. 24 -- Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Wednesday said the BJP would contest Rajasthan's upcoming panchayat elections "with full force", claiming that the party had formed boards in 200 urban local bodies following the recent civic polls. Addressing a programme in Jaitaran on Wednesday, Sharma thanked voters for the BJP's performance. "The BJP has created history by forming boards in 200 urban bodies. Building on this victory, we will fight the panchayat elections with full force". Sharma attacked the Congress over its record in government, accusing it of making promises before elections and failing to fulfil them. Referring to the Yamuna water agreement, he alleged that Congress leaders had repeatedly raised the issue in Shekhawati during election campaigns. "Congress only lied and looted," he said. He also defended his government's "One State, One Election" policy, saying it would reduce the cost of conducting local elections. "During the previous Congress government, panchayat and civic elections were held every five years. Wasn't public money spent on this?". Sharma claimed that the policy would save money belonging to "the poor, farmers and labourers". On employment, he said his government had provided over 188,000 jobs. "Congress shattered the youth's dreams of employment," he alleged. Sharma was speaking at a programme associated with the Seva Sankalp Yatra, which is travelling from PM Narendra Modi's birthplace, Vadnagar, to his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi. He met participants and flagged off a bike rally. Describing the journey as "historic", he said he hoped its young participants would help fulfil Modi's vision of developed India....
