weather-based crop insurance launched for two seasons
Jaipur, Aug. 22 -- The Rajasthan government has implemented the Restructured Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS) for two crop seasons - from Kharif 2026 to Rabi 2026-27-to protect farmers against financial losses caused by adverse weather conditions and undesirable weather events.
Agriculture commissioner Naresh Kumar Goyal said the scheme will provide insurance cover against crop losses arising from adverse weather conditions. Under the scheme, various commercial and horticultural crops have been notified across all 41 districts for Kharif 2026 and Rabi 2026-27. For Kharif 2026, the notified crops include green chilli, okra, onion, tomato, castor, pomegranate, tinda, henna, orange and kinnow. For Rabi 2026-27, the crops covered are amla, brinjal, fennel, cauliflower, garlic, onion, peas, tomato, potato, guava, lemon, mango, muskmelon, watermelon, ber, cabbage, sweet lime and papaya.
