Jaipur, Sept. 29 -- The Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) will see a direct contest between Brij Kishore Upadhyay and Dhananjay Singh for the president's post after Parakram Rathore withdrew his nomination on Monday, saying he had filed his candidature as part of a strategy to ensure that the panel's claim remained intact in case the main candidate's nomination was rejected on technical grounds. Rathore said the party had not asked him to contest the election and that his nomination was filed in support of Upadhyay. "When Brij Kishore Upadhyay filed his nomination for the president's post, I was with him. I held the nomination papers in my hands and we filed our nominations together. I had made it clear at that time that I was filing my nomination in support of Brij Kishore," Rathore said. He said he had followed a similar strategy for the secretary's post by filing his nomination in support of Pinkesh Porwal, who had been chosen by the party. "There is no difference between Brij Kishore Upadhyay and me. I am confident that he will run the RCA better than I would," Rathore said. He also claimed the support of 32 district cricket associations. Rathore said he had devoted his life to the party and accepted its decision out of loyalty and the values instilled in him. With Monday's withdrawal of nominations, 12 candidates remain in the fray for the RCA's six-member executive, with two candidates contesting each of the six posts. A total of 30 candidates had initially filed nominations, of whom 18 withdrew on Monday. The RCA election will be held on Tuesday, September 29. The association's AGM will be held at 11 am, followed by voting from 11.30 am. The results will be declared on the same day. A total of 38 voters, including secretaries and conveners of 36 district cricket associations and two former international players, are eligible to vote. Besides the presidential contest between Upadhyay and Dhananjay Singh, Mohit Yadav, son of MLA Jaswant Yadav, will face Ratan Singh Shekhawat for vice-president. The secretary's post will see a contest between Pinkesh Kumar Jain and Mohit Yadav, while Vinod Saharan and Rajesh Saraswat will contest for joint secretary. For treasurer, Ashish Tiwari, son of Rajya Sabha MP Ghanshyam Tiwari, will face Vishnu Prakash Agarwal. Dharamveer Singh Shekhawat and Arisht Singhvi will contest for the executive member's post....
