Bikaner, May 31 -- An undertrial prisoner lodged in Bikaner Central Jail allegedly died by suicide inside his isolation cell early on Saturday, said police. The deceased was facing trial in a 2020 murder case registered under Sections 302 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code at Suratgarh police station, they added Bichwal SHO Gourav Saraswat said the incident came to light during routine inspection rounds inside the jail premises when around 4 am. He added that he inmate had reportedly been showing abnormal behaviour for some time and was kept in a separate isolation cell after allegedly attacking other prisoners a few days ago. The body was later shifted to PBM Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination under magistrate supervision. Police said that a probe into the matter is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the suicide.
