state Police draws roadmap for 24 drone applications
Jaipur, Oct. 7 -- Rajasthan Police is preparing a roadmap for 24 applications of drone technology across policing, signalling a move towards a more structured use of unmanned aerial systems for surveillance, operations and crime control. The draft roadmap has been prepared after a three-week police drone integration course conducted at the Saptashakti Drone Training School (SSDTS) in Lalgarh Jatan, Sri Ganganagar. The course trained 17 police personnel, from constable to deputy superintendent of police rank, in operating drones for mission-based flights and day-and-night surveillance.
The move comes as the department seeks to standardise drone deployment rather than limit its use to individual operations. Proposed applications cover potential uses of the technology in different areas of policing, along with operational requirements and procedures for its implementation. The draft will be placed before police headquarters for approval and may be introduced across the department after necessary modifications, officials said.
The roadmap is intended to make drone operations safer, standardised and more outcome-oriented. During the three-week course, personnel received practical and theoretical training in first-person-view drone simulation, surveillance drone operations, mission planning and flight safety.
