Jaipur, July 15 -- Rajasthan has provided tap water connections to nearly 59% of its rural households under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), with 6.36 million of the state's 10.7 million rural families now having access to piped drinking water, according to figures reviewed by Chief Secretary V. Srinivas on Tuesday. Chairing a review meeting of the mission at the secretariat, Srinivas directed officials to ensure that all pending works are completed within the stipulated timelines while maintaining quality standards. Officials informed that drinking water projects worth Rs.1,00,145 crore have been sanctioned under the mission. The state has provided 5.18 million new household tap connections since the launch of the mission. In 2019, only 11% of Rajasthan's 1.07 crore rural households had access to tap water.
