Jaipur, Sept. 14 -- The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Sunday arrested Sambhar station house officer (SHO) Rammilan Meena for allegedly accepting a Rs.50,000 bribe from a road contractor, officials said.
According to the ACB, the contractor was executing a public road construction project in the Sambhar area of Jaipur Rural. Meena had allegedly demanded Rs.20,000 a month to allow the work to continue without disputes.
The complainant alleged that when the money was not paid, the SHO repeatedly threatened to stop the project and summoned the contractor's employees and vehicles to the police station. Following the complaint, the ACB verified the alleged demand.
An ACB team subsequently laid a trap and arrested Meena while he was allegedly accepting the money.
The agency said further searches and questioning were underway. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act....
