Ajmer, July 28 -- State assembly speaker Vasudev Devnani on Monday inaugurated a Rs.22.5 crore project under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme to divert sewage drains to make Ajmer's Anasagar lake pollution-free. Speaking on the occasion, Devnani said that under the project, wastewater from 13 major drains flowing into the lake will be diverted directly to the sewer network. He added that the tapping system of drains flowing into Ana Sagar will also be strengthened to prevent dirty water and pollutants from entering the lake. Projects to improve water quality and enhance the lake's beauty will also be implemented. Devnani said that he hoped that all water bodies in Ajmer would become as clean and beautiful as those in Udaipur. A budget of Rs.5 crore has also been prepared for the development of Chaurasiyawas Pond, while several projects were underway at Varun Sagar Lake, he said. Municipal Corporation superintending engineer Prem Shankar Sharma said the work on the project was scheduled to begin within 15 days, and six major drains were expected to be tapped in six months. A new 10.5-kilometre sewer line will carry the wastewater directly to the 13 MLD STP for treatment, he said....
