Solar plants to come atop 6 STPs, 2 gardens along Dravyavati river
Jaipur, Oct. 1 -- The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) is installing solar power plants on the rooftops of six sewage treatment plants (STPs) and two gardens along the Dravyavati river, with the 5MW project expected to save JDA around Rs.6 crore in electricity costs annually.
The initiative is being undertaken by the JDA under the direction of urban development and housing minister Jhabar Singh Kharra, in line with the state government's focus on energy conservation and reducing electricity expenditure.
JDA commissioner Siddharth Mahajan said the project was being executed through the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL).
The JDA will pay RRECL Rs.536.12 per kilowatt per month for 11 years. The agreement also includes operation and maintenance of the project for 25 years.
It is expected to generate average 20,000 units of solar power daily, nearly 7.2 million units annually. During the 11-year payment period, the gross electricity savings are estimated at Rs.67.32 crore.htc...
