JAIPUR, Aug. 15 -- Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma is set to hoist the national flag at the state-level Independence Day celebrations at Bikaner's Dr Karni Singh Stadium on Saturday On Friday, Sharma joined a Tiranga Yatra in Sadulshahar, where he paid tribute to the freedom fighters, martyrs and patriots whose sacrifices paved the way for independence. Addressing a gathering before the Tiranga Yatra, Sharma said the people's enthusiasm for the Yatra reflected the special place the national flag holds in the hearts of Indians. He said He said Tiranga Yatras under the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign were strengthening patriotism among the younger generation and encouraging people to put the nation first. The campaign, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022 as part of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav', has now become a mass movement, he said. This year's campaign is dedicated to commemorating 150 years of the national song 'Vande Mataram'. Highlighting Rajasthan's association with the national flag, Sharma said the first tricolour hoisted in independent India had been made using khadi fabric woven by weavers in Aluda village of Dausa. The fabric was subsequently dyed and turned into the tricolour at Govindgarh, he said. Referring to August 14 as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, Sharma said millions of people were affected by the tragedy of Partition, which permanently changed the lives of people, particularly those living in border areas. In his Independence Day message, Sharma said the occasion was a reminder of the sacrifices and dedication of those who gave up everything for the country's freedom. He said it also inspires citizens to remain committed to protecting India's unity, integrity and sovereignty. Sharma said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, both the country and the state were moving towards a shared goal of self-reliance. The chief minister said the state government was committed to ensuring that development benefits reach people at the last mile. The government is focusing on creating employment opportunities for youth, ensuring prosperity for farmers, empowering women and improving living conditions for poor and disadvantaged sections, he said. He appealed to people to make a collective resolve to discharge their duties with sincerity and contribute to social harmony, environmental protection, cleanliness and water conservation. Sharma will hoist the national flag at 9.05 am. He will also address the state-level Independence Day function at the function . He is also scheduled to hoist the flag at 8.30 am at Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University and pay floral tribute to martyrs at the Shaheed Smarak. Later, at 11.25 am, the chief minister will participate in the 'Yuva Samvad: Viksit Rajasthan 2047' programme at the auditorium of the Institute of Water Science and Water Management. During his Sadulshahar visit Sharma also announced the establishment of a milk chilling plant at Chunawadh and laid the foundation stone for a new building of the government sub-district hospital. Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, MLA Gurveer Singh, local public representatives and a large number of citizens participated in the Tiranga Yatra. Sharma expressed confidence that the unity, hard work and determination of Rajasthan's people would help the state achieve new milestones and play a leading role in realising the vision of a developed India....
