Jaipur, Aug. 3 -- The Centre has informed Parliament that the Rajasthan government has initiated the process of rationalising the boundary of the Sariska Tiger Reserve and completed public hearings, while issues related to the demarcation of the Nahargarh Sanctuary remain pending before the Supreme Court and the Rajasthan High Court. The Union ministry of environment, Forest and Climate Change has informed Parliament that the Rajasthan government has initiated the process of rationalising the boundary of the Sariska Tiger Reserve in line with directions of the Supreme Court, while issues relating to the demarcation of the Nahargarh Sanctuary are currently pending before the courts. Replying to an unstarred question by Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal in the Lok Sabha, minister of state for environment, forest and climate change Kirti Vardhan Singh clarified that the ministry had written to the Rajasthan government on April 23, 2025, and not on May 7, 2025, as mentioned in the question. The letter sought appropriate action regarding issues primarily related to the rationalisation of the Sariska Tiger Reserve boundary and the demarcation of the Nahargarh Sanctuary as per the notified boundaries. The ministry said that, according to information provided by the Rajasthan government, the boundary rationalisation process for Sariska was initiated following recommendations of the Central Empowered Committee in compliance with directions issued by the Supreme Court in the TN Godavarman vs Union of India case.
