Rooftop MD drug factory busted in Jodhpur, Rs.3 crore narcotics seized
Jaipur, April 4 -- The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has busted an illegal MD drug manufacturing unit operating from a house rooftop in Jodhpur's Banad area, recovering narcotics and chemicals worth Rs.3 crore, officials said.
AGTF ADG Dinesh MN said police recovered 3.055kg of manufactured MD drugs along with 55.725 kg of hazardous chemicals in the raid on Thursday. The contraband is estimated to be worth Rs.3 crore in international market, he said.
The accused, Ganpatram Beniwal (40), a resident of Mandli in Balotra and currently living in Shankar Nagar, Banad, was arrested from the spot.
During interrogation, he revealed that he had entered into a deal with Sanchore-based drug traffickers Asuram alias Lucky and Bhanu to repay a debt of Rs.12 lakh, police said, adding that he had turned his residence into a drug manufacturing lab. Police said the recovered chemicals could have been used to produce an additional 60 kg of MD drugs.
The ADG said the AGTF had been receiving continuous inputs about large-scale MD drug supply by mafias to peddlers in Jodhpur. Acting on a specific input received by ASI Rakesh Jakhad, a special team was constituted under the supervision of SP Gyan Chand Yadav and ASP Narottam Lal Verma.
In a coordinated late-night operation, teams surrounded the house located in an isolated area. When the team reached the rooftop, they found drugs being dried on a mattress under the light of a bulb, with chemical drums and electronic stoves scattered around, police said.
Police seized 3.055 kg of MD drugs along with chemicals such as dichloromethane, Max Fine Chem, de-ionized water, and Jyoti Hydrotech, officials said. Equipment including an electronic stove, nine buckets, steel utensils, and drug-drying tools were also recovered from the site, they said.
Further investigation is underway, and police teams are conducting raids to arrest the main accused, Asuram alias Lucky and Bhanu, who are currently absconding....
