Bharatpur, June 23 -- Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) chief Hanuman Beniwal on Monday warned that the Jat community will march towards Delhi and intensify its agitation if the demand for reservation in central government jobs remains unaddressed. Addressing a Hunkar Rally in Bharatpur, attended by hundreds of people, Beniwal accused the BJP government of delaying the process of granting Other Backward Classes (OBC) reservation benefits to Jats of Bharatpur, Dholpur and Deeg districts. "Jats will march towards Delhi and fight with the government over the reservation demand," Beniwal said, adding that the community would continue its struggle until reservation benefits were granted. He said Jats of Rajasthan would launch a sustained movement against the government over the issue. "The government has been delaying the demand for years. Now the community will fight for its rights," he said. BJP legislators - Shailesh Singh from Kumher-Deeg and Jagat Singh from Nadbai - also attended the rally and extended support to the reservation demand. Ahead of the gathering, community leaders had launched a mobilisation campaign by distributing yellow rice in villages. Teams were formed to visit Jat-dominated villages and create awareness among people about the reservation movement. The community had earlier started an agitation on January 24, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, with the slogan "No reservation, no vote for BJP". Leaders indicated that the campaign could continue during the upcoming panchayat and municipal elections. During the rally, discussions were held on launching a fresh phase of agitation, including possible blockades of railway tracks and highways, said community leader Singh. Jat leader Rahul Uwar said the community's fight would now be directly against the government, alleging that repeated assurances over the reservation issue had failed to bring any outcome. "We want reservation, and no assurances will be accepted. This agitation is not limited to three districts. Railway and road routes across Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh will be blocked if required," Uwar said. Jats of Bharatpur, Dholpur and Deeg have been demanding inclusion in the central OBC category for nearly 11 years after they were excluded from central government reservation benefits in 2014 during the previous BJP-led government. The previous Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government had sent a recommendation to the Centre in 2022 seeking reservation benefits for the community in central government jobs. Earlier, the Social Justice and Empowerment Department had sent a proposal to the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) on December 29, 2021, seeking inclusion of Jats from Bharatpur and Dholpur under the central OBC category. The state government had argued that Jats from these districts were socially, educationally and economically backward, similar to Jats in other parts of Rajasthan, and should not be excluded on the basis of geographical boundaries. While Jats from 41 districts receive reservation benefits in central government jobs, those from Bharatpur, Dholpur and Deeg remain outside the central OBC list....
