Jaipur, Sept. 24 -- The lottery to determine reservations for Rajasthan's Panchayati Raj elections began on Wednesday, with district administrations allocating Zila Parishad seats, Panchayat Samiti member seats and Pradhan posts by category. The exercise will continue on Thursday. The state government has set November 15 as the deadline for completing the election process. Reservations for 8,245 Panchayat Samiti member seats will be determined by lottery. Of these, 1,484 are earmarked for Scheduled Castes (SC), 1,356 for Scheduled Tribes (ST) and 1,101 for Other Backward Classes (OBC). The remaining 4,304 seats are unreserved. Women's reservations apply across the categories. In Jaipur, the lottery was held at the collectorate under the supervision of collector Sandesh Nayak. Reservations for sarpanch and ward panch posts in district's 597 gram panchayats are scheduled to be determined at the respective sub-divisional headquarters on Thursday. Jaipur has 57 Zila Parishad seats, 386 Panchayat Samiti member seats and 22 Pradhan posts. Of the Zila Parishad seats, 10 were allocated to SC candidates, eight to ST candidates and 10 to OBC candidates, while 29 are unreserved. Four Pradhan posts each were allocated to SC and OBC candidates, three to ST candidates and 11 to the unreserved category. Eleven of the 22 Pradhan posts are reserved for women across categories. The Pradhan allocations, all 16 posts in Banswara, 14 in Dungarpur, eight in Pratapgarh and seven in Salumbar were reserved for ST candidates. In Udaipur, ST candidates were allotted 15 of the 20 posts, SC candidates one and unreserved candidates four. In Alwar, two Pradhan posts each were allocated to SC and ST candidates, one to an OBC candidate and six were unreserved. Sikar's allocation was three for SC candidates, one for ST candidates, three for OBC candidates and nine unreserved. Ajmer had two posts each for SC and OBC candidates and six unreserved, while Kota had one post each for SC, ST and OBC candidates and three unreserved. Bikaner allocated four of its 15 Pradhan posts to SC candidates and three to OBC candidates, leaving eight unreserved. Barmer allocated three to SC candidates, one to an ST candidate and three to OBC candidates, with 10 unreserved. Jhunjhunu had two posts each for SC and OBC candidates and 10 unreserved. Nagaur had three SC posts, two OBC posts and seven unreserved posts. In Pali, two posts were allocated to SC candidates, one to an ST candidate and one to an OBC candidate; five were unreserved. Chittorgarh and Baran each allocated two posts to SC candidates, two to ST candidates and one to an OBC candidate. Their unreserved totals were six and five, respectively. Balotra had two SC posts, one ST post, two OBC posts and six unreserved posts. Bharatpur allocated two Pradhan posts to SC candidates and one to an OBC candidate, leaving four unreserved. Dholpur had one SC post, one OBC post and four unreserved posts. In Deeg, one post was allocated to an SC candidate, one to an OBC woman and three to unreserved. Dausa allocated two posts to SC candidates, four to ST candidates and one to an OBC candidate, leaving seven unreserved. Karauli had two posts each for SC and ST candidates, one OBC and six unreserved. Khairthal-Tijara had one SC post, one OBC post and four unreserved posts, while Kotputli-Behror had one SC post, one OBC post and six unreserved posts. Churu allocated three posts to SC candidates and two to OBC candidates, with eight unreserved. Jhalawar had one post each for SC, ST and OBC candidates and five unreserved. Jaisalmer had two SC posts, one ST post, two OBC posts and five unreserved posts. Hanumangarh had three SC posts, two OBC posts and 5 unreserved posts. Sri Ganganagar allocated four posts to SC candidates and one to an OBC candidate, leaving six unreserved. Sawai Madhopur had three SC posts, one OBC post and four unreserved posts. Bhilwara allocated three posts to SC candidates, two to ST candidates and three to OBC candidates, with eight unreserved. Sirohi had one SC post, two ST posts, one OBC post and four unreserved posts. Jalore had three SC posts, one ST post, two OBC posts and eight unreserved posts. Phalodi had two SC posts, one ST post, one OBC post and five unreserved posts. Bundi and Tonk each had two SC posts, one ST post, one OBC post and four unreserved posts. Rajsamand allocated one post each to SC, ST and OBC, leaving six unreserved.
