Relief from heatwave likely in state from May 29-30, says IMD
Jaipur, May 28 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast likely relief from extreme heat in Rajasthan from May 29-30 onwards due to thunderstorms, dust storms and rainfall activity, triggered by a fresh western disturbance.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Jaipur, intense heatwave and warm night conditions are expected to continue across the state for two to three days, with an orange alert issued for May 28.
The weather department said maximum temperatures in most parts of Rajasthan are likely to remain between 44 and 46 degrees Celsius during this period. In parts of the Bikaner and Kota divisions and the Shekhawati region, temperatures may rise to 46-47 degrees Celsius, while some border areas of western Rajasthan could record temperatures close to 48 degrees Celsius on May 27 and 28.
However, officials said a fresh western disturbance is likely to become active from May 28, leading to thunderstorms and rainfall activity in several parts of the state.
The impact of the weather system is expected to intensify from May 30 and may continue during the first week of June as well.
The weather office said the strongest impact of the western disturbance is likely between May 29 and 31, when districts in Jaipur, Bharatpur, Kota, Ajmer, Udaipur, Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions may witness strong dust storms, wind speeds of 60-70 kmph and rainfall at isolated places.
Due to the impact of storm and rain activity, temperatures are likely to fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius from May 29, bringing probable relief from the ongoing heatwave conditions from May 29-30 onwards, said the weather agency....
