Jaipur, Sept. 13 -- The Rajasthan State Election Commission has ordered a fresh poll at a polling station in Ward 62 of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation after 110 people whose names had been deleted from the electoral roll were allowed to vote, officials said on Saturday. The re-poll will be held at Government Higher Primary School, Room No. 4, Teela Wala, Sanganer-polling station Part No. 23-from 7am to 6pm on September 13. According to the Commission, the incident occurred during polling on September 11. After examining reports submitted by the district election officer and the returning officer, SEC concluded that it had affected the fairness of the election. The re-poll has been ordered under Rule 55 of the Rajasthan Municipal (Election) Rules, 1994. Officials have been directed to inform the contesting candidates and their election agents in writing about the date, time and venue of the re-poll and to widely publicise the information in the area. Only eligible voters will be allowed to cast their ballots. Indelible ink will be applied from the base of the nail to the first joint of the left middle finger to identify those voting in the re-poll. The Commission said ballot papers, including tendered ballot papers, could be reprinted if required. The electronic voting machines used during the original polling on September 11 will remain sealed in safe custody. Meanwhile, chief secretary V Srinivas met state election commissioner Rajeshwar Singh on Saturday and congratulated him on what he described as the free, fair and peaceful conduct of the urban body elections. Srinivas also expressed satisfaction over the highest-ever voter turnout recorded in the state's urban body elections and appreciated the State Election Commission's efforts in conducting the polls successfully....
