Jodhpur, July 26 -- The Rajasthan High Court has dismissed the bail applications of 13 people accused in an alleged forceful religious conversion case, observing that the case diary prima facie indicates their involvement in an organised syndicate. Justice Sunil Beniwal rejected the pleas filed under Section 483 of the BNSS, citing the seriousness of the allegations, the ongoing investigation and the possibility of the accused tampering with evidence if released. The petitioners include Prabhulal and Sohanal from Udaipur, and Amit Kumar, Palash Gulhani and Ashish Masih from Chhattisgarh. They were arrested in connection with an FIR under provisions of the BNS, 2023, and the Rajasthan Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2025. The petitioners argued they had been falsely implicated and that the religious camp was merely a gathering. The prosecution opposed the pleas, alleging the accused were part of an organised conversion network. It told the court that Amit Kumar ran a society in Chhattisgarh, travelled to Udaipur to conduct the camp, and that text messages recovered from his phone linked him to the alleged activities.
