Rajasthan govt to start 'School on Wheel' in every district
Jaipur, June 16 -- In an initiative aimed at bringing education to children who remain outside the formal schooling system, the Rajasthan School Education Council is preparing to launch a 'School on Wheel' in every district under the state government's Rajpahal Programme.
The ambitious project, announced in the Rajasthan Budget 2026-27, is designed to connect nomadic, semi-nomadic and other educationally deprived children with mainstream education.
The Education Department is partnering with REI for school readiness programmes and has directed concerned officials to monitor monthly progress and prepare future action plans.
Non-governmental organisations working in the education sector will also be involved in the initiative.
A senior official said the plan was discussed recently, where officials of the Alternative and Formal Education Cell interacted with representatives of various NGOs.
The discussions focused on ensuring the implementation of one School on Wheel in each district under the Rajpahal Programme, reviewing progress reports and formulating strategies for reaching children from nomadic and semi-nomadic communities such as Gadia Lohars and Banjaras, as well as children of migrant labourers.
"The need to identify children who have never attended school or have dropped out and reconnect them with the education system," he said.
He also addedthat school readiness camps would be organised for identified children and dropout students would be linked with the Rajasthan State Open School....
