Jaipur, Aug. 31 -- Rajasthan will launch a pilot programme in Alwar and Bharatpur districts to monitor the health, nutrition and development of children up to three years of age, principal secretary, medical and health, Gayatri Rathore said. The Comprehensive Infant Health Programme, being introduced under a Union government initiative, will seek to identify children requiring additional medical care and reduce mortality among those under five. Under the programme, children will be classified as "normal" or "at risk" based on their health and developmental needs. Those identified as being at risk will be regularly monitored through home visits and referred to health centres or higher medical facilities if treatment is required. Rathore said the system was intended to detect health and developmental problems before a child's condition deteriorated, allowing treatment to begin at an early stage. ASHA workers will use the Shaishav App to record details of children's health examinations and identify those requiring closer attention or medical intervention. The application will also generate alerts for health workers and enable them to track children after they have been referred to hospitals.
