Jaipur, Sept. 21 -- The Rajasthan government is pushing for a shift from LPG to domestic piped natural gas (DPnG), with city gas distribution (CGD) entities directed to rapidly expand infrastructure and prioritise connections for households, commercial establishments and industrial units, Rajasthan State Gas Ltd (RSGL) managing director Vinay Patni said on Sunday. Speaking at RSGL's 14th foundation day, Patni said the Centre and state government were focused on expanding the use of piped natural gas as a cleaner and more convenient energy option. RSGL and other CGD entities were working to accelerate infrastructure development and provide DPnG connections in areas where the network had been expanded, he said. Patni urged residents to opt for DPnG, highlighting its round-the-clock availability and ease of access. "DPnG is a green and clean energy option, besides being safe, convenient and available 24x7," Patni said. According to RSGL, around two lakh families across Rajasthan have already been connected to DPnG services through CGD entities. RSGL alone has added around 4,500 new domestic consumers to its network over the past three months. The company has also stepped up efforts to expand piped gas use among commercial consumers, issuing 66 new commercial connections during the past three months, officials said. RSGL deputy general managers CP Chaudhary and Vivek Srivastava said the company was simultaneously expanding infrastructure to connect hostels, hotels, multi-storey buildings, commercial establishments and industrial units to DPnG. "Along with issuing domestic connections, infrastructure is being developed on priority to connect hostels, hotels, multi-storey buildings, commercial establishments and industrial units with DPnG services," the officials said. Connections were being issued in areas where the required pipeline and distribution infrastructure was already available, they added. The expansion is part of a broader push towards greater use of natural gas in the domestic, commercial and industrial sectors. The shift from LPG cylinders to piped gas also reduces the need to store and handle cylinders at individual premises. Patni congratulated RSGL employees and officials on the company's 14th foundation day and emphasised the role of clean energy in meeting Rajasthan's growing energy requirements.....
