jaipur, Sept. 7 -- Acting Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court Sanjeev Prakash Sharma on Sunday said children should be raised in accordance with their family and social environment and Indian culture, rather than being categorised through Western labels such as "Gen Alpha" and "Gen Beta". He also called for efforts to integrate children living in institutional care into the mainstream. Speaking at a consultation marking 10 years of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, Sharma said children were a valuable asset to the nation and must be provided a safe, empowering and socially and culturally conducive environment. He said the High Court was concerned about shortcomings in special children's homes across Rajasthan. The court had sought affidavits from superintendents of all such institutions detailing their basic requirements, with steps being taken to address them. Justice Indrajit Singh, chairman of the High Court's Juvenile Justice Committee, said infrastructure development alone would not ensure rehabilitation and called for greater attention to children's mental health.
