prioritise poor, marginalised: guv to officers
Jaipur, May 18 -- Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde on Sunday called upon newly selected administrative officers to work with dedication for people from backward and weaker sections of society, saying true recognition in public life comes from solving the problems of the poor and underprivileged.
Addressing a felicitation ceremony in Jaipur, the Governor said officers chosen for administrative positions should devote time to villages and deprived communities as part of the vision of building a "New India".
During the programme, 59 newly selected Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) officers and three newly selected Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers were honoured by the Governor.
"Education alone can bring positive change in society and the nation. The journey from a hut to a palace is possible only through education," he said.
The Governor also referred to the colonial-era education system introduced by Thomas Babington Macaulay, alleging that it promoted a "slave mentality" in India. He said the National Education Policy has opened a path towards freedom from that mindset and stressed the need to inculcate moral values among students under the new policy framework.htc...
