Police move to block 15,326 SIMs, 7,800 URLs in CSEAM crackdown
Jaipur, Oct. 1 -- Rajasthan Police's cyber crime branch (R4C) has launched a statewide crackdown on the online circulation of child sexual exploitation and abuse material (CSEAM) and obscene or objectionable content, initiating action against over 15,000 mobile numbers and SIMs and around 7,800 URLs and profiles.
The action follows an extensive technical analysis of nearly 25,000 data inputs and alerts received by the cyber crime branch from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and other national and international sources, police said on Wednesday.
Additional director general of police (Cyber Crime) VK Singh said the technical verification of the inputs had enabled the police to identify digital footprints allegedly being used for the circulation of illegal material. In the initial phase of the statewide operation, 15,326 suspected mobile numbers/SIMs have been identified and forwarded to telecom service providers for necessary blocking action, he said.
Around 7,800 suspicious URLs and profiles have also been blocked, while 100 electronic devices, including smartphones and hard drives, have been identified and brought within the scope of investigation, he said.
