Ajmer/Jaipur, July 18 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday dedicated 75 redeveloped Amrit Bharat railway stations across the country to the nation from Jalandhar, Punjab, including eight stations in Rajasthan- Gotan, Deeg, Somesar, Dausa, Khairthal, Barmer, Jaisalmer and Gangapur City. Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma joined the inauguration virtually from Gotan railway station in Nagaur district and said the redeveloped stations would strengthen rail connectivity and contribute to the vision of a "Developed Rajasthan" and "Developed India". Addressing the gathering, Sharma highlighted railway investments in the state, Sharma said Rajasthan's railway budget had increased from Rs.682 crore during 2009-14 to Rs.10,228 crore for 2026-27, nearly a 15-fold rise. He said railway projects worth more than Rs.76,800 crore are currently under execution in the state. Sharma said the state currently has five pairs of Vande Bharat Express services and around 3,900 km of new railway tracks have been laid since 2014. He said 85 railway stations are being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme at an estimated cost of Rs.4,623 crore, with work on several stations already completed. Referring to recent railway developments, Sharma said the Jaipur-Darbhanga Amrit Bharat Express was launched last month, while a Rs.205-crore mega coaching terminal at Khatipura has also been inaugurated. The facility will enable maintenance of multiple train categories, including Vande Bharat trains, at a single location. He added that the 567-route-km Western Dedicated Freight Corridor passing through Rajasthan, with an investment of around Rs.14,700 crore, was emerging as a key driver of the industrial and economic growth.
