Bharatpur, June 12 -- Former Rajasthan deputy chief minister and All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Sachin Pilot on Wednesday said truth and falsehood can be judged by looking into an individual's eyes. He stressed that he maintains respect for all leaders he has worked with, adding that while ideological differences may exist, there have never been "differences of heart". "If you look someone in the eye, you can tell whether that person is speaking the truth or telling a lie. I respect each and every person I have worked with. There can be differences of opinion but there should be no bitterness in relationships," he said. Though he did not name anyone, Pilot's statement came three days after former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot made a sharp political attack on him, claiming that the events of 25 September 2022 were not a rebellion against the Congress high command but were directed specifically against Pilot's leadership ambitions. In September 2022, the Rajasthan Congress faced a major political crisis when a section of party MLAs boycotted a Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting, effectively blocking a leadership transition plan that was being discussed at the national level. The move came amid speculation that Pilot could be elevated as chief minister, triggering deep factional tensions within the state unit. Addressing a Kissan Sammelan in Karauli district, Pilot said some people enter politics only for rewards or positions and criticised what he described as a trend of "advance booking" in political careers. He said such practices are harmful for both party and public, and stressed that politics should be based on service and ethics. Reiterating his philosophy, he said leaders should remain connected with public and work in a way that they are remembered for their contribution.
