Permission mandatory for DJs, loudspeakers; night use ban in Jaipur
Jaipur, Oct. 2 -- DJs, loudspeakers and other sound-amplifying devices cannot be used at social and cultural events in Jaipur without prior police permission, while their use between 10 pm and 6 am has been prohibited, according to an order issued by the Jaipur Police Commissionerate.
The prohibitory order has been issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, by Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) and Executive Magistrate Dr Rajiv Pachar. It will remain in force from October 4 to December 2, 2026, unless withdrawn earlier.
Under the order, organisers of social or cultural programmes must obtain permission from the concerned deputy commissioner of police before installing or using a DJ, loudspeaker or any other sound-amplifying equipment. No permission will be granted for their use between 10 pm and 6 am.
Even during permitted hours, organisers will have to ensure that sound levels remain within the prescribed limits under the Schedule of the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000.
The order also prohibits converting vehicles into DJ vehicles by installing generators, speakers and other sound equipment. Such modifications have been termed illegal under the Motor Vehicles Act....
