Jaipur, July 28 -- Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday alleged that state government has cancelled over 300 land allotments for community organisations, institutions and public welfare projects made under his tenure , and demanded that the state issue a white paper to explain the cancellations. In a post on X, Gehlot claimed that the cancelled allotments were meant for hostels for students from villages and remote areas, social organisations and public utility projects, and not for any political party. He alleged that many of the allotments were revoked despite the beneficiary institutions having deposited the required security amount. Calling the move an "insult to communities" and a "blow to the future of the youth", he also accused the BJP government of showing preferential treatment in allocating land for the party's offices. He alleged that while land allotments for community welfare projects were being cancelled, there was "no shortage of land" for the BJP's new state headquarters and district offices, with allotment files being processed without delay. "Is the land of Rajasthan only for BJP offices, not for backward communities and our children?" questioned Gehlot The former chief minister alleged that the state government was failing to take the aspirations of the younger generations seriously. Gehlot demanded that the state government release a white paper detailing which land allotments had been cancelled and on what grounds. He also urged the state government to immediately revoke what he described as "vindictive decisions" and restore each of the allegedly cancelled allotments Commenting on the issue, BJP spokesperson Ram Lal Sharma alleged that during its tenure, the Congress government had distributed "freebies" in the form of land allotments to several institutions, including many that were run for Congress workers' personal interests. He claimed that while such organisations projected themselves as working for the welfare of children and society, they were in fact serving their own interests. "The government is reviewing all land allotments made during the previous Congress government. All allotments made in accordance with the rules will continue, but those found to have been made irregularly or in violation of norms will be cancelled," Sharma said....
